Blue Wave Mens Indoor Track Overview

by Reed Barthold

The Blue Wave track team is often overlooked as it has many of its meets are in locations other than the DHS campus. However, despite the lack of attention, the team still produces incredible numbers at each meet and is looking for an FCIAC and state title this season.

Senior Spencer Mckeough is the star thrower for DHS and has continuously broken the DHS record for shot put and often places first at each meet. McKeough has thrown over 50 feet in practice and his PR in a meet measures 49 feet 2 inches. Senior Nick Lombardo is now ranked third in the country for indoor track in his high jump event. Lombardo has jumped 6'8" previously and looks to shatter 6'10" sometime this season. Brian Davey (another senior captain) is the team leader in the 1000m event with junior Alex Ostberg and sophomore Armstrong Noonan leading in the 3200m and 1600m events, respectively.

The DHS track team has participated in two scored meets and has placed first in one of them. However, the Blue Wave lost the first meet as they were missing stars Mckeough, Lombardo, and Ostberg in the first meet they lost. The Blue Wave plans to continue its success into the postseason in search of possible FCIAC and state titles.
