On Monday, February 10th, the Blue Wave Girls Hockey Team
defeated Wilton/Norwalk 7-0. It was Senior Night for the Blue Wave, and senior Captains
Shannon Hall, Sage Thacher, and Ellie Bennett led the team to their fifteenth
win this season.
This is the team’s third consecutive shutout game with a win
by 6 or more goals. Each of the 7 goals was scored by different players,
proving that this team has depth throughout the entire squad. Freshman Logan
Book, junior Amanda Sload, junior Lauren Cicero, senior Ellie Bennett, junior Christy
Conley, junior Julia Arrix, and junior Allegra Molkenthin each had a goal (in
that order). Darien also made 4 saves in goal.
Senior captain Shannon Hall has been impressive all year
long in goal. This is her eleventh shutout this season. Her excellence in goal
is fueled by a well-connected defense and fierce offense. “It really was a team
effort. The entire team worked together to get them out of our defensive zone.
It was an extremely offensive game and it showed in the final score,” Hall said
of the game.
