Blue Wave Girls Tennis Looks Forward to a Successful Season

by Colleen Heaney

As the spring sports season rolls around, the Blue Wave Girls Tennis Squad begins to trek their racquets, sneakers, and equipment to school. The time has come for the girls to start another season. Libby Feingold, the only senior captain this year, leads the way for the team. Teammate and fellow senior Katie Lashendock has “high hopes” for this year and describes Feingold as “the perfect leader for our squad because she knows how to keep a balance between the seriousness of each match and keeping the fun alive!”

The team is excited for the new season because of the addition of many freshmen. Feingold said, “The incoming freshman are such an influential part of the team and will be playing high in the singles bracket.” The fresh faces on the squad will add depth to the team and improve their chances each match.

Feingold is particularly excited about freshman Kateri Martin. “Kateri Martin, who has won he Junior National Tennis Tournament, is on the team and we are all very excited for what she has to offer.” In the long run Feingold plans for the team to “never stop fighting. We are looking for the FCIAC and CIAC title”.

“We are strong not only technically, but most importantly in Blue Wave Pride,” says Lashendock.

Come support the Blue Wave at their first scrimmage versus Amity on Thursday, April 3rd at 4:00 pm at Amity High School!
