Jake Weil and Peter McDonough Ink Official Acceptance Letters

By Jay Alter:

When the Blue Wave football team hoisted its FCIAC Championship trophy this fall, many thought that was the pinnacle and the end of the seniors on the team's football career. For Senior Captains Peter McDonough and Jake Weil, their career will be extended by playing in college. Weil, middle linebacker, will be heading off to play at Marist and McDonough, cornerback, at Cornell. McDonough and Weil signed their letters of intent to play college football together in a ceremony alongside coach Rob Trifone (pictured) on Feb. 9. The two recruits capped off a great football season at the high school going 11-2 and making it to the state semi-final and capturing an FCIAC title this fall. Photo Credit: Darien Patch

Dear Jay Alter,

They weren't real letters of intent because these schools don't give scholarships. So this was just a publicity stunt and you fell for it. Sorry for disappointing you.

Sincerely,
Somebody that actually knows sports.

ivy leagues dont sign letters of intent......

Well... I do know someone who goes plays at Marist, and the is a real letter. If you knew sports, schools that do not give scholorships still make kids sign so they do not bail on the school. Ivy does not make anyone sign, but schools like Marist do.

Sincerely,
Some one who has signed and does play sports.
