Darien Baseball Abuses New Canaan; Improves to 6-0

By Britton Barthold

The Darien Blue Wave varsity baseball squad continues its hot start to the season by defeating New Canaan 8-0 at home. Richard Brereton and Casey Brown both smashed home runs late in the game, while Andrew Winsch went a complete game, allowing only two hits in the process.

The win keeps the Blue Wave undefeated for the season, and gives them one of the best starts in over five years. The team entered the season with little to no respect from other teams and media outlets due to the many unknown players filling out the roster. The team clearly has disregarded and silenced all of their doubters, allowing only seven total runs in six games, while scoring on average an incredible six runs per game.

The team will continue into FCIAC play against Danbury next Monday. #SchmidtHappens
