Wave Girls’ Tennis Springs Forward into the 2016 Season

by Carson Halabi

Wave tennis had an incredible winning streak last year, losing only to Fairfield Ludlowe and Staples in the regular season. Their success led them to beat Ludlowe in the semis, and then Staples in the final, earning the State champion title for 2015. Anna Barsanti, a strong varsity player, will led the team as captain for the 2016 season. Adding to the excitement of the spring, the Wave has two new varsity coaches: Anne Lise Brown, and Gigi Fernandez, who competed in the Olympics for tennis, and won a gold. Tryouts for Wave tennis happened last week, before Easter break. Congrats to the new JV and Varsity members! There are a lot of expectations for the Wave this upcoming season, especially looking to underclassmen to carry the team.

Come watch the team's first regular season match at home against Brien McMahon this coming Wednesday, April 6 at 4:00 p.m.
