Boys XC Finish Season Undefeated
The Boys Cross Country Team continued to defend its winning streak as Darien’s runners beat Greenwich, Fairfield Warde, and Wilton to the finish line. What allows this team to dominate the FCIAC, and even State league, is its ability to finish as a team rather than as individuals. Though Harry Warnick from Warde and Spencer Brown from Wilton took first and second place, Darien took three spots out of the top five finishers. Senior runners Charlie Baird and Michael Johnston finished together, coming in third overall, and they were followed closely by senior Michael Coe.
This was the last season meet for Darien Boy’s Cross Country for 2011. This is Coach Tyson’s first undefeated season out of the nine years that he has coached here at Darien High School-completing the season with a seventeen and zero record. “We were really happy. It’s weird to think that all the previous runners on our team that we looked up to didn’t make it here.” If you have missed their previous meets there is another local opportunity to see this team in action. Come cheer on this undefeated team to victory at Waveny Park in New Canaan next Thursday, October 20th, at 4:00p.m. as they compete in FCIAC’s.
