Girls Cross Country Breaks Winning Streak
By: Lily Boe
The Darien Girls Cross Country team suffered a tough loss on Tuesday (10/11) to Greenwich and Wilton. The team was previously undefeated. The 2.55 mile race, which included a stretch along the beach as well as a lengthy period in the woods, took place at Todd’s Point in Greenwich. Junior Grace Loh had another impressive race, as she finished first for the team and second overall with a time of 16:29. Junior Sarah Colon was close behind her, finishing fourth overall in 16:40. Also in the Darien’s top five this week were junior Ellen Bauer, who placed eleventh, senior McKinley Stauffer, who came in sixteenth, and junior Katie Farren, who placed twenty-first. Although the girls were disappointed to end their winning streak, they still have high hopes for the FCIAC race. “It was a tough course and our final result was not what we aimed for, but everybody did their best and now we have even more to work for in FCIACs. Hopefully we can bring it next week,” Farren said. This past meet was the final race of the regular season before FCIACs, which will take place next Thursday (10/20) at Waveny Park in New Canaan. Come support the team as it tries to claim the FCIAC victory!
