Boys' Baseball Downs Black Knights

-By: Taiki Miki-

Yesterday, the Blue Wave baseball team (7-6) came away with a close 4-2 win against rival Stamford (7-7) to end a two game losing streak yesterday. Senior captain, Andrew Hurn, gave up two runs in the first inning. However, he would regain his composure to keep them scoreless for the rest of the game. In the 2nd inning, the Blue Wave was able to comeback, with much help from the opposing pitcher. The inning was fueled by three straight walks and then a wild pitch, which allowed senior Ian Sullivan to score. Junior Thomas Carruthers also drove in a run with the only hit in the inning and then junior Sam Gillespie also drove in a run with a popup to left field. The game was ended with a fantastic double play between Carruthers, senior Tommy Farren, and junior Alex Yergey. Senior captain Dan Pidgeon did not play due to a lingering hamstring injury.
“I think we definitely held on in the face of a tough first inning and to keep thing going we just have to keep hitting and fielding as aggressively as we did today, “ said Hurn. Come support the baseball at their next game on Monday at 4pm at St. Joseph High School.
