Girls Softball Trumps Warde in Extra Innings


By Emily Close - The Girls Softball Team pulled off a nail biter in the double inning’s to beat Fairfield Warde 5 to 4 on Tuesday May 24th. The Wave was down by one run in the final inning of the game, but junior Kelly Fahey quickly rallied, hitting a single that sent junior Olivia Godz at third base to score the tying run. Both Farfield Warde and Darien battled through 2 more innings until the bottom of the 8th when Olivia Godz stole home on a wild pitch to give the girls softball team yet another win. Junior and Assistant Captain Jess DeMaio said, “It was a really intense game it felt really good to win in extra innings, we had a lot of key hits when the pressure was on and made a lot of important defensive plays.” This win will carry them into the FCIAC semi-finals on Thursday (5/26) against Stamford at 5pm, @ University of Fairfield.
