Field Hockey Narrowly Escapes

By Annabel Schneider - The girl’s varsity field hockey team started off its season with a successful game against Staples this Monday (9/19). Captain, senior Lilly Cassidy said, “I thought we played well, we do have some stuff to work on, but it was a great game to start out”. The girls finished the first half with a 2 to 1 lead. Then they finished of the game with a 3 to 2 win.
It wasn’t the girl’s normal “with flying colors” win, but they held their own. “Staples came at us hard, but we were able to . . . outscore them 3 to 2,” Cassidy said. The team did lose a few seniors from last year, but they are still optimistic. “I think that we have a great season to look forward to, although we are a young team this year we have depth and motivation.”
The girls’ next game will be tomorrow against Stamford at Stamford High School at 4:00 and then they will return to the DHS stadium to play Norwalk this Friday at 4:15.
