Well...it wasn't a loss

By Jay Alter - Before the game, first year coach Jon Bradley noted that the boys have "come accustomed with losing" and that they need to break out of that psycho of "accepting losses". Well, the Boys soccer team did not lose! They tied Deerfield 1-1 this afternoon (9/5) as they continue to train towards their first game on the 14th against Westhill. Juniors, Spencer McMullin, Brennan Bronca, and Jonathan Gill tested the Deerfield goalie in the first half but were not able to put one in, making the halftime score 1-0 off an unlucky goal that got by junior keeper, Jack Fisher. In the second half, the Blue Wave answered their coaches distress call as McMullin blasted one past the Deerfield keeper, evening up the score. The defense led by Senior Captains, Elliot Helgans, Eric Kanigan, and Matt Collier shut out Deerfield, who had 14 wins last season, in the second half as the score stayed tied until the final whistle, although a free kick attempt by Bronca (pictured) came an inch away from giving the Blue Wave a victory.
