Boys Basketball Fall Again

The Darien Varsity Boys Basketball team were unsuccessful in finding their second win in a row on Friday January 13th. They lost to FCIAC powerhouse Greenwich to a score of 57 to 25.

The Darien Boys Basketball team started off weak surrendering 17 points in the first quarter. Darien was able to secure two pints through sophomore George Phillips. The second quarter unfortunately did not get much better as the half ended. George and Brian Wiegand who was able to add too Darien's score. The half ended Darien 7 Greenwich 31.

In the second half, Darien drew first blood with a foul shot from Tommy MacLean. The third quarter followed the same script as the first two with Greenwich controlling most of the game. The fourth quarter was also tough for the wave. Darien was able to put in more baskets though and young players sophomore Ames Murray and freshman Charlie Travers gained good experience.

Captain senior Geoff Leeker, who is hurt and could not play, said after the game that to improve the team has to , "Come out to play four full quarters of basketball and take advantage of our opportunities. Also stick to our game plans and plays."

The Darien will look to move on from this loss when they play Trinity Catholic next this Tuesday the 17th at home. Come support the team fight for their third win.
