A 1-19 season, 0-18 in the FCIAC, was all it took to bring the boys’ basketball season to an end. Yes, there was that single win against a team from Maine, Noble, but even that did not count as an FCIAC-sanctioned win. The nadir of the season had to be the Bridgeport Central routing where the team scored 101 points against them on February 9th. The new defensive coach was not even enough to help the boys eke out a single win. There have already been reports that a number of athletes do not want to play next year instead using the time to focus on pre-season lax prep. The team will lose many seniors this year, well the four that actually stayed with the team through their four years and stuck it out. Coach Tom O'Donnell always commented on the "heart" and the "intensity" of the team. Looks like the focus will be on girls' basketball nnext year because well, the boys' basketball team will cease to exist except in the infamy of DHS sports history.
