Boys’ varsity lacrosse proved they are road warriors with an impressive 12-0 win at Brien McMahon on Thursday night. (4/15) The offensive barrage commenced less than one minute into the game when senior Bryan Annecchino netted a goal, his first of two on the night. Senior captain Brian Gleason (pictured) kept the assault going by extending the lead to 2-0, and the Blue Wave never looked back. Darien scored eight of its 12 goals in the first period, setting the tone for what would be a remarkable road victory. Senior Alden Frelinghuysen scored a hat trick and had an assist. Junior Ben Preston and sophomore Case Matheis added a couple of goals each and juniors Graham Maybell and Richard Gregory both contributed points in the beatdown over the Senators. While the offense was showcased all night, the defense deserved equal praise for its effort. Senior goalie Andrew West led the shutout with four saves. Junior Dylan Torey displayed excellent skills between the pipes during his playing time. This win boosted Darien’s record to 4-0 on the season, and dropped Brien McMahon down to 1-3. The Blue Wave has a huge battle in store on Saturday (4/16) when they travel to Pennsylvania. It will be a clash of powerhouses when they take on Conestoga at 2 p.m.
