The Darien Blue Wave softball team won its scrimmage against Trumbull on Thursday (4/1) at DHS with an end score of 3-2. With only two returning seniors Kelsey Ott and Michele Piccaro, the team looks to its underclassmen for support. Sophomore Jessica DeMaio pitched 5 innings with 5 strikeouts. Sophomore Emily Blosio went 3 for 3 with a sac bunt and freshman Emma Hamilton went 2 for 3. Junior captain Nicole Buch, (pictured) “knew it was going to be a tough game.” However, the team worked hard throughout the eight innings played and in the end this paid off with a rightly deserved win, a promising start to the season. Be sure to check out the team’s first game on Wednesday (4/7) at DHS’s softball varsity field when they take on Masuk of Monroe at 4:15pm.
