DHS boys’ varsity volleyball team beat Bridgeport Central in the DHS Main Gym on Wednesday. (4/28) The boys secured a 3-2 win. The game started out well for DHS, leaving Bridgeport Central to look as an underdog. After DHS crushed Bridgeport Central in the first two sets, the team soon realized they had their work cut out for them when Central took the next two sets, leaving both teams to a tie.Pressure was on with the last set, but DHS pulled through with a 15-10 win after junior Calder Billhardt (#6, pictured) had a spike, allowing DHS to claim a victory.Overall there were 53 kills, five blocks and eight aces made by the DHS varsity team. Junior Billhardt had the most kills and a total amount of 26 points. Junior Austin Cockerill (#9, pictured) was also leading DHS to victory with 22 points scored as well as many kills.The team’s next game will be on Friday (4/30) in the DHS Main Gym. The varsity team will be playing St. Joseph’s, a worthy match, at 4 p.m. Hopefully the team will continue acquiring victories for DHS.
