Boys Track Almost Reaches a Win
By Marguerite Morgan - The Boys Varsity Track Team took on various teams at O’Grady Relays this past Saturday April 30 at Danbury High School. The boys put up a good fight although Danbury ended up winning the boys portion of the meet overall. The meet did not count towards the boys’ record and only sprinters and field event athletes participated. Some of the relays included the Distance Medley Relay, the 3 by 300 meter hurdles, the 4 by 200 meter, the 4 by 400 meter, and the Sprint Medley Relay. Juniors Elliott Helgans, Matt Pik, Billy Seimers, and Geoff Leaker ran the 4 by 400 meter in 3 minutes and 40 seconds, receiving first place in their heat. Darien held its own in the field events as well. Senior Stockton McMullin, freshman Nick Lombardo, and Senior Christian Neilson came in first place overall in the long jump. The boys are hoping to keep up their fast paces and strong momentum at their next meet against Fairfield Warde and Bridgeport Central. Come support the boys this Tuesday at the DHS track at 4pm as they take on Fairfield and Bridgeport!
