Girls Varsity Lacrosse Secures Win for Senior Day
By Lily Boe - On Monday (5/16), Girls Varsity Lacrosse defeated Greenwich Academy 18-10 at the DHS stadium. The team was celebrating senior day, and prior to the game, there was a brief announcement in honor of the five seniors: Ellie Bullitt, Claire Dickson, Emma Getsinger, Emma Tuz, and Trisha Vossler. The girls had to bring their energy early on when GA scored within the first minute of the game. Darien followed up with 2 quick goals. With a minute and a half left in the first half, GA had one free position but Senior Goalie Claire Dickson made a quick save. The girls finished the first half up 7-2.
Junior Brynn Gasparino made the first goal in the second half, followed by a solid second goal by freshman Hollis Perticone. With nearly twelve minutes remaining in the game, Sophomore Kristy Gilbert made a swift goal that was immediately followed by a shift over to defense where Dickson made two fantastic saves. The game was an immense triumph for the team, especially the seniors. Following the game, Senior Captain Emma Tuz commented positively on the team’s success. “Our fast breaks were great. We were great on the draw, and we came out with intensity.” The team’s next game is home against Westhill on Tuesday (5/17) at 5:30 p.m. Come support the team as it strives for its second win of the week!
