DHS Rugby Wins MET Division
By Jay Alter - The Darien Boys Rugby team came from behind to beat St. Peters to finish their regular season with a 4-0-1 record. Darien, in only their fourth season of having a rugby team, captured the title over well developed teams that have had programs around for many years, like Keio, Xavier, and Delbarton. All of those teams are in the MET league, but were not able to beat Darien as they finished the season at the top of the standings, capturing them the title. The team was led by senior, captain Sam McCarthy (pictured), who has converted most of the tries this season for the Rugby team. The Blue Wave's season is not over, they still will compete in the State tournament which takes place on May 29th.
