Blue Wave Girls’ Volleyball Adds Another “W” to the Books

-By: Samantha Wood-

The Wave Girls' Volleyball beat the Guilford Indians in the home gym on Thursday (Nov 11). The bleachers were full and loud with support from the students. At first this CIAC Championships Round 2 game was close with both teams scoring one after another and staying neck-and-neck with each other. However, once Darien started heating up and winning the first game by a small margin, things started going downhill for Guilford. Guilford was trying to keep up morale, spirit, and determination as they fought hard against the Wave, but it just wasn’t enough. Darien won the second game, but the consistent scores for the two teams showed that it was far from a complete wash out. As the third game came to a close, the Wave was simply untouchable. Throughout the game senior captain Mackenzie Begley always appeared calm and collected. She had great tricky serves, and would make the scoring strike with such ease. The team did a great job keeping up their proud winning record. Make sure to support the girls in the CIAC Quarterfinals game at home at 7 pm on Saturday (Nov 13).
