Football Heads to State Tournament

-By Kevin Cassidy-

The Blue Wave's regular football season came to an end on Thanksgiving Day with a disappointing loss to arch rival New Canaan. Despite the 42-14 defeat on Thursday the Blue Wave still ended the regular season with a 10-1 record and as the FCIAC Champions. The Wave's regular season was good enough to help them earn the 5th Seed in the Class L Connecticut State Tournament. The team's first game will be held Tuesday (11/30) at 6:30pm against Wethersfield at Wethersfield. This will be the quarterfinal match up. If the Wave wins they will likely face top seeded Masuk High School of Monroe- the only team left undefeated team in Class L. The other team in the FCIAC that will be in the Class L State Championship is New Canaan, which earned the 6th Seed. Darien has a chance for payback with New Canaan if the Wave makes it to the state championship game. Senior Captain Will Weinstock said, "the team is excited for the State Championship". We wish the boys the best of luck in their big game on Tuesday.
