Girls Tennis Team: States, Are You In or Out?

By Isabelle Perticone

The varsity girls tennis team will be playing the girls Fairfield Ludlowe team today at 3 o’clock on the Ludlowe tennis courts. Ludlowe just won FCIACS and “is going to be really tough competition” according to junior doubles player Madison Bolotin.
So far, the girls have had a very successful season, holding on to wins against longtime rival New Canaan. “Beating New Canaan for the first time in 5 years was definitely a high for our team” said Bolotin. The girls have had very close matches against Ludlowe over the course of the season and plan to bring their A game to the courts today. “Our captains Jenna Murray, who plays number one singles, and Sarah Alptekin, who plays doubles with sophomore Catherine Hatfield, are all strong players and hopefully they will be able to pull through with wins,” said Bolotin.
If the girls win their match today, they will move on to the next round of States where their next competition will be determined. But only the winner of today’s athletics will continue on with their season.  “I am very confident in our team’s abilities, but I’ll be proud of our team and our season no matter what the outcome is,” said junior, varsity player, Sandhya Avula.
