Win One, Lose One: Girls Golf Carries On

By Courtney Kyritz

So far this week the Blue Wave Varsity Girls Golf team has had both a home match (Weeburn Country Club 4/29) and an away match (Rictor Park 4/28) each time playing the Danbury Girls Varsity Golf team. On Monday,  Wave Girls, were able to shoot low as a team pulling out a 22 stroke lead against Danbury, further securing their spot in the final four for the FCIAC tournament. The girls were happy with this win, knowing Danbury would be one of their top competitors leading into the FCIAC’s and States tournaments.

However, this Tuesday the girls were not as lucky. Senior Captain Izzy Lee, shot a great score of a 40, with the others unfortunately not following too close behind her. Playing at their home course, Danbury’s team all played incredibly well, shooting what was one of their best rounds of the season. Sophomore standout player, Julianna Lee said, “We definitely did not play as well as we could have today, it also didn’t help that Danbury all played their best. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to beat Trumbull at one of our home courses.”

Wave girls golf will have their next match this Wednesday May 1st, at Woodway Country Club,  teeing off at 3:15. Come check out all the excitement!
