Darien Varsity Field Hockey Tramps over the Rams

By Ashley Mailhot

Darien's Varsity Field Hockey team claimed another victory on Friday, September 20th. The Blue Wave defeated the New Canaan Rams, leaving the game with a score of 3-0. Sophomore Georgia Cassidy made the first two team goals. Her first goal was assisted by senior Hollis Perticone. Perticone hit the ball into the circle and Cassidy was able to tip it over the goalie’s head. The second was a tip of senior Kelsey Bumgardner’s shot. In the first half of the game, New Canaan took 4 shots while Blue Wave took 26, which means that Darien definitely dominated the game.

Less than 5 minutes into the second half, Perticone was granted a penalty stroke after the goalie of the New Canaan Rams made an illegal play. She flicked the ball into the left top corner of the goal, changing the scoreboard to 3-0.

Varsity Field hockey has a game today against Wilton at 4! Come support them, as they will be playing on the DHS Stadium field.
