Varsity Basketball Team Beats Rival 54-42

By Brad Magnusson

On Wednesday the 18th, the Varsity Basketball Team took on rival Greenwich in a fall exhibition game. The Blue Wave brought home a victory, edging the Cardinals 54-42. The team looked sharp and was led by superstar senior Chima Azuonwu. He was the game’s high scorer with 18 points, coming off of five thunderous dunks and put-back layups around the hoop. He also pulled down 12 impressive rebounds.

After the game, Azuonwu said, “Seeing my teammates play hard and aggressively inspired me to dunk the ball every time I could. We played very well.” Senior point guard Matt Staubi, who will be a tri-captain this year, was pleased with his team’s performance. He thought that game was “a solid win.”
Look out for the boys to make a run at the Connecticut Class M State Tournament this year and come support them in their next exhibition game next Wednesday.
