#1 Wave Rolls Past Staples

by Colin Flynn

Last Saturday, the number 1 team in the state, Wave Puck, took on Staples in their first game of the FCIAC Tournament. Senior Connor Davis opened up the game by scoring two goals in the first period, with the first 20 minutes ending with a score of 2-1.   In the second and third period, senior Tommy Watters scored twice, while junior Jack Pardue wrapped up the game with the fifth DHS goal.  During a postgame interview, Craig Miller had nothing but praise for his team.  “Our offense is spectacular and has been consistent with scoring goals all season.  The defense was excellent tonight, and it’s always a good thing with a goaltender like [senior] Mikey Colon, who always steps up whenever we need him to.”

It has been an incredible season for Blue Wave Hockey; some consider it as one of the best in years.  “I would definitely say that.  We have a great defense, a great offense, and a great goalie.  We are deep everywhere on the team and we are beating teams we don’t normally beat and say we are one of the best teams Darien Hockey has produced in a while,” Miller added.

Be sure to check out the Blue Wave as they take on Trinity Catholic on Wednesday.
