Girls Varsity Swim and Dive Drown the Rams

By Mary Brown
On Wednesday, October 8th, the Darien Girls Swim and Dive team crushed New Canaan with a total of 118 points to the Rams’ 68. The win continues the team’s undefeated streak and shows their complete dominance in the league.
The girls swam an exceptional meet, coming out strong and determined to continue their undefeated record. The Wave’s great performance included a first, second and third place sweep in both the 200 meter Individual Medley (IM) and the 100 meter backstroke. Sweeping all three places in two events is a tremendous feat, one that certainly helped in defeating the Rams.

“We have been working extremely hard in and out of the pool and everyone did a great job in being focused and ready to go,” said senior captain Mackenzie Coughlin. Coughlin along with the rest of her team acknowledges New Canaan as great competition and anticipates seeing them again in the FCIAC, State and Open title meets.
Come support the Swim and Dive team at their next home meet on Friday, October 10th against Fairfield Ludlowe at the Darien YMCA.
The girls do a cheer to get ready for the big meet
