Senior Captain Liz Calby led the way for the Darien High School Girl’s Basketball team on Tuesday night. (2/9) with 19 points in a dominating 64-32 performance over Bridgeport Central. The win ended a five game slide that began on Jan. 22. Calby raised her team-leading season total to 76 points, and helped the Blue Wave improve to 9-8 on the season. Freshman standout Meg Marren contributed 13, and was a force to be reckoned with on defense as the Hilltoppers had trouble getting the ball past her all night. Junior Nicole Buch put on a show with five breakaway layups (two of which she was fouled on) and a total of 12 points. Senior captain Leanne Stone chipped in 10 during a great outing under the boards. On the Hilltoppers side of the ball, Phyllisse Lewis scored 16, while her teammate Natalie McLaughlin caught fire from beyond the arc, finishing with 9. The Blue Wave’s next game is against Fairfield Warde in the DHS Gymnasium at 7pm on Friday. (2/12)
