The boys’ basketball team lost against the Bassick Lions on Senior Night on Monday. (2/22) The action scored off in the main gym, ending with yet another close defeat of 38-48. Regardless of the loss, which seems to be a trend this season, four seniors, Michael Lee, Wes Blummer, Grant Scott, and Philip Stueber played hard which also happened to be the last home game of the season. The team started off strong and senior captain Philip Stueber won the tip off. The boys were able to stick with the Bridgeport team keeping the score close with tough defense and plenty of missed shots by Bassick. Sophomore Tony Britton drained a much needed three-pointer during the second quarter which pumped the crowd up. But in the end, the Wave wasn’t able to pull through in the final minutes due to weakness on the offense and the boards. The Blue Wave’s final game is against the Trumbull Hornets at 7pm on Wednesday. (2/24) With a rough season behind them, the team, especially the seniors, is looking forward to earning at least one win during the final game on the Trumbull court. (Update: the boys lost to Trumbull ending the season without a winning game)
