The DHS girls track team won FCIAC East for the seventh year on Saturday (1/30) in Wilton. The girls finished with a 40-point lead against New Canaan, Fairfield Warde, Wilton, St. Joe’s, and Bassick. They were led by senior captains Cat Thomas, Kelly Brophy, Christy Gasparino (pictured), and Meredith Jordan. Captain Gasparino won the high jump, long jump, and the hurdles competition as Captain Jordan won the 45-meter dash and placed in the 300 meter. Captains Thomas and Brophy along with juniors Trisha Vossler and Katie Grozier placed third in the 750-meter relay and junior Megan Keane placed second in the 1,000-meter run. Sophmore Robin Bone smashed the field house record of 10 feet set earlier in the season by junior Elizabeth Crafford, vaulting 11 ft 9 in. in the pole vault competition, placing first. The 4x2 25-meter relay run by Captain Jordan, Alexa Tarantino, Charlotte Phillips, and Sam Simon was crushed as the girls placed first. Overall, DHS smashed their opponents, bringing BWP another win and another trophy for the trophy case.
