Boys Track Claims Fourth Place At FCIACS

-By: Matt Pik-

Darien Boys Track and Field captured 4th place at the FCIAC meet at Danbury on Tuesday. (5/24) Scoring 68.3 total points, Darien trailed only Trumbull, Staples, and perennial powerhouse Danbury, who won the meet. Three athletes received All-FCIAC honors for their efforts, including juniors Kevin Keller and John Conley and senior captain Jake McCauley. (all pictured) Keller came in second in the long jump with a leap of 21 ft 9.25 inches. Conley finished second in the 3200 in 9:46, and McCauley took silver in the 1600 in 4:30, as well. Notably, junior Stockton McMullin and senior captain Brent Eppley, along with Kevin Keller, helped Darien take a 2-3-4 finish in the long jump. The most anticipated moment of the day was the 4x400 relay, which consisted of McMullin, Eppley, senior captain Sean Gill, and Keller as the anchor. The squad came in third, finishing with a team best time of 3:25. With FCIACS now in hindsight, the boys track team is preparing for their Class L State Championships meet at Willowbrook Park in New Britain on Wednesday. (6/2)
