Rugby Tries to Break Losing Streak

-By: Connor McCarthy-

After a tough losing streak at its own venue, Darien Rugby hopes to beat St. Peter’s Prep of Jersey City this weekend. On Sunday (5/16) at 2:30pm at Royle School, the Blue Wave will undertake probably the most important game of this season. The forward pack should hopefully include the big guns – seniors TJ Ganser, Randy Brewer, Max Schreyer, James Payne, Nicasio Arroyo, and the ever elusive Sebastian Kopp, while hopefully the back line will include Grant Scott, Niclas Rasmussen, and Henry Glavin – all lost to injury in the past couple weeks. Junior Ashwin Basu will also hopefully enlighten the team with his graceful agility, unless of course he breaks his nose for the fourth time this week.
This game marks the end of an era for Darien Rugby. With the first wave of seniors finally leaving, the club will be in a transitional phase next year, and potentially the season after that. The budget is low, but the hopes are high. Please come to watch the last home game of the season, and support the boys in one of their final stands for the competitive season.
