Girls Hockey Wins State Championship

By Taylor Davis

On Saturday March 4, 2017 the Girls Hockey Team won the State Championship 4-3 against Hamden. The team lost FCIACs; however, they did not let this affect them. “We never quit. After losing the FCIAC finals we knew what we had to do to bounce back and make it to the state final, and we did it,” Senior Captain Cassidy Schiff said. Logan Book, Kiki Tropsa, and Elise Maro played exceptionally well, each scoring a goal. Hamden was quite a tough competitor and both teams were fighting for the win until the end. Schiff secured the victory for the Wave, scoring the winning goal in overtime. Despite the struggles at the beginning of the season, the Girls Hockey Team was extremely successful. “This win shows that we had a lot of heart and determination and that we weren't going to let a bump in the road slow us down,” Schiff said.
