Darien Boys Lacrosse Jamboree

By Arden Cohen

Senior Finlay Collins hustles down the field in a game last season.
The Darien boys lacrosse team took on Hand, Everest Academy, and Fairfield Prep this past weekend and emerged victorious in all three. There were several standouts for Darien High School both offensively and defensively. Senior Kevin Lindley was able to bury several goals in all three games and played tremendously well with junior Logan McGovern. The middie captains Finley Collins and Riley Stewart were a strong force offensively and even defensively. Stuart was also crucial in the Wave’s clearing game. “Just give the ball to Riley,” Matty Hathaway said, “he’ll get the ball right out.” Hathaway also played a strong defensive game as well. Senior FOGO Jack Beatty tore it up on the face off X ending the three games with a winning percentage. On defense, seniors Jake Bieler and Quinn Fay played lock-down defense. The boy’s next scrimmage is this Wednesday against Salisbury and their first real game is Saturday against Yorktown at home. Collins is definitely “excited to finally get going this upcoming Saturday.” He believes that the team “has a lot depth with people contributing across grade levels which should definitely help keep practice tempo up. We have a tough road ahead, but are certainly up for the challenge.”
