On February 10th, 2014, the Darien Blue Wave Boys Hockey
Team blanked Staples-Weston-Shelton co-op 6-0.
The number one team in the state has been on quite the roll recently
after key wins over Fairfield Prep and Notre Dame of West Haven. This game against Staples-Weston-Shelton
really defined Darien’s success this season.
With goals from senior Tommy Watters (2), senior Robbie
Juterbock (2), junior Jack Pardue, and freshman Max Romeyn, the Blue Wave had
countless scoring options, an aspect of their game that will allow them to be
lethal come postseason time.
Senior goalie Michael Colon has been nothing less than
outstanding all year long, keeping the Wave in the game with timely saves. Against Staples-Westport-Shelton, Colon didn’t
allow a goal with help from a superb defense.
Junior Aidan Loh was able keep the opponent out of the zone with good
aggression and fierce coverage. “I felt
good about this game; everyone contributed in one way or another, so overall it
was a good win,” Loh said.
Up next the Wave take on St. Joes on February 12th at
Shelton Rinks at 8 pm.
