-By: Britt Gordon-

The Girls Varsity Golf Team made history placing second in the FCIAC tournament at New Canaan Country Club on Wednesday May 28.. This placement is the best the DHS girls golf team has ever done in the tournament. The team is also breaking records because for the first time in the team’s history, they will end the season with a winning record, which is currently 8-3-1. At the FCIAC tournament, Darien finished with a total score of 394, and was runner-up to New Canaan, who won the tournament and shot a total score of 368. The team narrowly defeated Fairfield Warde, who had a score of 394, and Greenwich with a score of 400. Junior and Captain Stephanie Ko led the team to near-victory by shooting a tremendous score of 88, and sophomore Kendall Kyritz followed with a score of 94. Sophomore Nicole Granath, and seniors Clare Baldwin and Megan Ardery (Claire & Megan pictured above) also played well and contributed to the team’s success at FCIACs. “I am very excited about our 2nd place FCIAC championship and overall season finishes, because they reflect how much the team has grown in recent years and how hard we worked this season,” sophomore Nicole Granath said. The girls will go to States at Orange Hills Country Club in Orange, Connecticut on June 8.
