Spiking to Success: Sam Bryant

-By: Jay Alter-

Sam Bryant (pictured) took the volleyball court for the first time based on his senior sister Lily Bryant’s advice. Extraordinary passing skills took him to the top. Fast. “Since the beginning of the season Sam has caught everybody’s eye with his natural talent and great passing skills,” sophomore Austin Cockerill said. “Now as the season has progressed he has developed his hands and his spike and is becoming an essential player to the team,” Cockerill said. Sam said, “It is one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life, Coach runs us harder than I would do in track practice." Cockerill added, “Sam has started listening to the captains much more and now is really starting to develop his strength and is becoming a reliable and aggressive teammate.” Bryant's pass is not the only strength helping the boys. He is also known for his signature sweet tip shot. Bryant’s serve is improving and he still has that amazing pass that scored him a spot on the team. The Volleyball team is 9-8 in the 2009 season after coming off a victory in the states tournament in 2008. However, during the season the team lost to Ridgefield, thus they did not qualify for the FCIAC tournament.
