Wave Sailing Dominates the Competition

-By: Tally Thoren-

The Darien High School sailing team has completed its 2009 season with an outstanding record. In Fairfield County, the team went undefeated and won the FCIAC championship. Congrats to the team for bringing back the “Fairfield Cup” for the second year in a row. The sailors also got ninth in the New England Championships. This year has been one of the best sailing years for DHS due to the great talent. The DHS sailing team says farewell to its seniors: Captain Maarten Eenkema van Dijk, Captain Mackenzie Milne, Katie Marren, Tally Thoren, Katherine Newkirk, Jake Seymour, Will Andrea, and Alex Morrison. Though we are losing many valuable players this year, next year should be just as good with junior Willem Sandburg leading the way. Other key sailors for next year will be juniors Justin Marks, Ines Castro and sophomore Olivia Crane.
