Girls’ Hockey Tops Trumbull

By Kevin Cassidy:
Girls varsity ice hockey walked away with a 2-0 win against Trumbull on Thursday night. (12/16) The Blue Wave was clearly the better team and outplayed Trumbull throughout the game. Darien got on the board first at the tail end of the first period when the team was man down on the penalty kill and senior captain Emma Tuz took the puck and skated it the length of the ice and was able to shoot the puck home for a 1-0 lead. Almost exactly a period later it was Tuz again. This time at the end of the second Tuz found the puck on the her stick in front of the net off a beautiful pass from junior Sara Shaker and once again was able to rifle it home to put the Girls up 2-0. In the third period, the Blue Wave was not able to get a goal, however they were banging on the door the whole period and had many chances. “Its early in the season and everyone is playing really well together” junior Emily Tropsa said. The girls’ next game is against arch rival New Canaan at Darien Ice Rink at 8:10pm on Monday night (12/20). We wish the girls the best of luck for the remainder of their season.

"period," not "people." Also, Lauren Perkins is the greatest hockey player that you ever did see.

Love,
