Girls Cross Country Team Races Hard at Last Meet Before FCIACs

by Caroline McKay

On Tuesday, October 8th, the Girls Cross Country Team faced off against Greenwich, Wilton, and Norwalk at Greenwich Point. The 1.58 mile novice race began at 4:15, and the 2.60 mile varsity race started at 5:00.

“It was a difficult course, but Darien did phenomenal with the majority running the varsity race,” junior Madison Maier said. Junior Anne Johnston came in 1st place with a time of 15:48, and junior Erika Osherow was the next Darien runner to cross the finish line, placing 6th with a time of 16:59. Wilton runners took second and third.

“It was a nice location and great course, and we worked together to do well as team,” junior Kate Halabi said of the last regular-season meet. “Everyone has improved a lot from their first meet, and the Greenwich meet was a great way to end the season before FCIACs,” senior manager Gillian McKay said.

Come support the Girls Cross Country team at Waveny Park on October 15th for FCIACs! The first race starts at 2:10.
