Girls Swimming Celebrates the Seniors—and a Win

by Sarah Cattano
On Monday, October 21st, Darien Girls Swimming and Diving took on Danbury in a duel meet at home. Their last home meet of the season, the Monday afternoon meet at the Darien YMCA doubled as the 2013 season senior day.
Senior Michelle Wall spoke to the Blue Wave Sports Blog about the teams performance, saying, “Everyone was really excited to swim fast for their last home meet of the season.” Their high energy clearly paid off as the girls won yet another meet during their regular season. “It was a really fun meet since it was senior day. The team had great energy,” Wall says of their win against Danbury.
Senior divers Molly Klein and captain Olivia Piazza stepped off the diving board and onto the swimming block, each participating in an event. “Honestly, it was a terrible feeling to be in the pool!” Klein said jokingly of her short-lived swimming career. “I give my teammates credit, I don’t know how they do it.”
Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 23rd, the girls will take on New Canaan High School. Cheer them on at 3:00 in New Canaan!
