After a spectacular season doubling as FCIAC and State
champions, and with several girls qualifying for Nationals, the Girls Indoor
Track team has announced next year’s four captains: juniors Anna Sulger, Maddie
Schneider, Elizabeth Fucigna, and Paula Tabaschek. Sulger and Schneider have
been on the 4x200 relay team both years when the group won the New England
title and competed at Nationals.
“This season went the best it possibly could in many ways.
We had experienced seniors leading the way and everyone did what they needed to
do in their respective events,” Sulger said. “Even though we will lose key
members of our team next year, we are looking forward to keeping the tradition
going.”
Schneider displayed similar feelings of appreciation for
this past season and excitement for the next.
“Of my five seasons of track this year’s indoor team was the
most dedicated group of girls I've seen…every girl completed and strained
[herself] in each workout and the results of the effort were definitely seen in
our achievements at our championship meets and with the number of qualifiers
for these meets,” Schneider said. “We are going to be having a bit of
rebuilding next year with so many accomplished seniors graduating, but if we
can keep the energy for next year I’m sure we’ll see great results again.”
Congratulations on such a successful season, and on behalf
of Neirad, good luck with the next!
