DHS Rugby Defeats Hillsborough

-By: Patrick Smith-

The Hillsborough Rugby team traveled more than two hours only to face defeat against the DHS rugby team this past Sunday. Although Darien had a ton of penalties they were able to pull away with the win. This first game of the year ended 40-33 at Royle Elementary School in Darien. The Hillsborough team -- hailing from the center of the Garden State - failed to fight off the DHS squad who battled back from an early deficit. The defense from the forwards was great. The Wave was able to stop the tries because of forwards; Kevin Ramsey, Mike Sawitsky and Joe Hughes played front line for the pack. The Darien boys remain undefeated in the early half of the season. The next game will be a challenge for the team as they take on Xavier at 1pm at Royle School on Sunday, March 29th.
