Girls Ice Hockey Takes State Championship

-By: Jose Corte-Real-

The first and second periods were very similar, with New Canaan scoring first, and Darien scoring right after. Sophomore Emma Tuz scored Darien’s first goal late in the first period. Another sophomore Taylor Holcomb scored Darien’s second goal, in the second period. The third period however was marked by Taylor Holcomb’s shot coming off of the New Canaan goal keeper’s facemask, flew about ten feet in the air, landed back down, and was struck with tremendous strength when it landed by Junior Aimee Rich, making it 3-2 for Darien. The last 3 minutes of the game were filled with excitement as the puck rarely left the Darien half of the ice. But all in all the Darien girls hockey team took home a deserving win, and are now the FCIAC and State champions.
