Darien Basketball Stays Hot Against St. Joseph

By Will Pegler

Blue Wave boys basketball picked up their 10th win of the season on Monday, February 13th at St. Joseph High School in Trumbull. The game was close throughout as the wave eked out a victory by four points, winning 72-68. Senior captain Alex Preston had another big game, stuffing St. Joseph shooters left and right and constantly bringing down rebounds. Preston hopes to carry this hot streak on as he continues on his quest for 1000 career points. Strong defensive play came from senior Jack Richter. Richter was able to pressure St. Joseph whenever they had the ball and his several steals caused some wide open lay ups for the wave. Despite the fact that they missed their rowdy home crowd, Darien was able to silence St. Joseph's home advantage with strong play on both sides of the ball. Sophomore Will Rolapp said; "The crowd was pretty loud, but that kind of stuff doesn't tend to have an effect on us. We just go out there and play our game".
