Girls Basketball Takes on Fairfield Warde

Junior Christine Fiore goes up for a lay up
On Wednesday February 1, the Blue Wave Girls Varsity basketball team took a loss to Fairfield Warde. The final score was 38-54, but it was clear the Blue Wave could have taken the win. Junior Captain Christine Fiore led the team with 10 points from layups, and junior Hailey King dominated the court with nine points from 3-pointers. Coach Mr. Steve Dunn commented about Wednesday’s game: “I thought after the first quarter we moved the ball much better and got shots off.” When asked about the season so far, Dunn said, “The season overall is not bad, but it has had its highs and lows.” The JV team took a loss as well that night, losing 44-52. Their coach, Mr. Wally Hurd said, “We had a good first quarter, but after that, not so much. But generally, our season is going very well.”

The team's record is 7-8, with hopefully another win this Thursday February 9, senior day, at home against New Canaan.
