On Saturday, at 1:30 the boys varsity football team took on the Ridgefield Tigers, in what some would call the biggest home game of the season so far. The game was a defensive battle, with both teams playing strong defense throughout the game. However, Darien was also able to show off their skilled offense, something that Ridgefield did not have. The final score of the game was 19-14, with Darien stopping Ridgefield on 4th down on their final drive of the game. Seniors Jay Harrison and Myles Ridder scored touchdowns for the Blue Wave. Senior Daly Hebert also played a tremendous game, making two field goals, one being over 45 yards, and kicking the ball through the back of the end zone on multiple occasions, leading to several touchbacks. “We knew how big this game was for us. A loss would take us out of contention for states so we went out and took care of business,” senior Matt Vossler said.
