This season, the Girls Varsity Soccer has maintained a record of 10 wins, 4 losses and 3 ties. At Blue Wave’s previous game on Thursday, October 24th, the team celebrated Senior Day and tying with Greenwich in a fantastic, neck-to-neck game.
This past Saturday, October 26th, Westhill defeats the Blue Wave Girls Varsity Soccer 3-1 at the FCIAC quarterfinals. During the first half of the game, Blue Wave barely got a hold of the ball leaving the scoreboard 3-0.
During the second half, Blue Wave was in control of the ball for most of the time, but was only able to score one last-minute goal. With only 4:41 remaining, senior Kelly Karczewski managed to score one goal for Blue Wave changing the scoreboard 3-1. Even though the team was given several chances to score, Blue Wave was only able to score one goal with the ball either traveling too far from the goal, hitting the crossbar, or was saved by Westhill’s goal keeper. Blue Wave kept on trying over and over again to get the ball in the goal, but the opposing defense team was taking away Blue Wave’s chances of scoring. Blue Wave’s first-year goalkeeper, senior Kellyn Berrigan, made 4 saves during this past Saturday’s game against Westhill. Good job this season!
