Making No Splash: Senior Girls Dive into a Successful Season

by Sarah Cattano
After a summer filled with work and the occasional dive into the pool, Blue Wave Swim and Dive is back for a great season. The Blue Wave Sports Blog talked to senior divers Molly Klein and Olivia Piazza, two of the just four members of the small diving squad. “We think this season is going to be a great one,” the girls said. The girls are back in the pool every day after school, with a morning practice twice a week supplemented by sessions in the weight room. Klein has been diving for 6 years, and Piazza has been diving for 5. “My favorite dive is probably a back one-and-a-half,” said Klein. “I think my favorite dive would have to be a front double,” followed captain Piazza. After many years of hard work and dedication to the sport, the two are finally seniors and have multiple goals for the team this season. “A goal for us is to learn some new dives and most importantly, to get all of our girls into state opens again.” Piazza and Klein have two other fellow divers, sophomore Jenny Schrenker and junior Kyla Pech to help them achieve their goals for the final season. Just weeks into their season, the Blue Wave Swim and Dive team are currently undefeated after three meets, and hope to continue this streak for the rest of the season. Come cheer on the team this Wednesday (10/2) in Greenwich!
